The Sound of Silence
A koan is an insoluble zen riddle used as a meditational exercise along the road to enlightenment. Here mountains made of Hi-Macs natural acrylic stone float in a sea of gravel against a wonderful 80-year old bonsai tree from Shikoku Japan. These elements provide clues in search for the garden's deeper significance.
The garden is inspired by the austerity of Zen Japanese gardens. They were designed to be viewed as enigmatic representations of the course of human life and provided an image of Nature in its most condensed form.
Selected as one of the 'Fresh Gardens' at the prestigious 100th Anniversary RHS Chelsea Garden Flower Show in London, England on May 2013. The garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt medal from the Show's panel of judges.
